FAQs
1. How many questions?
Multiple choice part will be 100 questions; Map part will be about 105 or so.
2. How long is the period?
Two hours, but since there is no "next class" for students to get to, there will be extra minutes if they need them.
3. What if we finish early?
All students should be alowed quiet time to take their test, Therefore, you will not be allowed to carry on in foolish ways if you finish early. Bring a free reading book or another subject's text to study.

Aside from the free reading book, two pencils (so you don't disturb the class by sharpening your pencil if it breaks). If you want, you may use pen for the map test.

1. Today, we wrote our compare and contrast essay. Some students work hard over the weekend to come in with practically a final draft; some just started thinking about it today. Grades will be on what they did in class today. While this assignment may not give them a great command of writing the compare and contrast essay, they have been exposed to the terminolgy and the general idea. This they will revisit as they progress through their classes at CCHS.
2. Homework: We are having a mid-term on Thursday. This includes about 35 review questions and 15 questions on the US and Canada. I gave the students a review sheet. They will have tonight and Tuesday night to go through terms and questions. Tomorrow, we will review some of these terms, plus the Physical and Political Map of the the US and Canada.

2. Test review notes should consist of some notes on distinguishing carrying capacity from population density, command economy from market economy, GNP from GDP. They should know that Society and Nation are both defined as a group of people living within a geographic area that share cultural traits. We use nation when we're wearing the population geographer hat. Finally, they should know how an innovation spreads (diffusion) and how when a new population picks it up that process is known as acculturation. Then the students should have responses to 20 review game items and notes on the answers.

1. Today, we changed the pace a little. We still did map work, but we colored the World Political Map to illustrate the patterns of development shown by mapping the Human Development Index (HDI)., The procedure used was to firsst find the value of the HDI for a country, then color both the data box and then the country on the map, according to the color key provided. This map will be collected on Friday, when we take the Chapter 4 Test.
2. Homework: As with every Wednesday, the homework is the current event assignment. The extra point for this week is for articles dealing with Urban Geography or Economic Geography.

2. After I had passed back the tests we took Friday, we "Corrected/Reviewed" them. I firmly believe that tests are learning experiences too. Each student, except the one or two who got 100% should now have a corerected test in their binder. WE spent the latter half of the class working on that.

2. Homework: Tomorrow, we will be working on our current event interpretations. So, students need to bring in a current event article to interpret and summarize. These are the guidlines:
a. Make sure you have the whole article, not just the first section.
b. If it is from an online source, use "printer friendly" to print it into a format that will not get chopped or be full of advertizing.
c. Make sure you choose an articvle that is to you.
