California Democracy School

Culver City High School is proud to be a Los Angeles County Office of Education accredited Democracy School.

The California Democracy School Project, funded by the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, was designed to institutionalize civic learning in high schools to prepare ALL students for college, career, and citizenship in the 21st century. The project strengthens existing initiatives including the Common Core State Standards, the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards, Partnership for 21st Century Learning, and the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools.

All CCHS students complete a Civic Action Project in their Senior Social Studies class (Government/Economics).  Students identify a program, research it, and take steps to make change.  Providing our students the tools to make change will lay a foundation for future changes.

Additionally, students engage in civil dialogue through Socratic Seminars in many of their classes.

Centaurs impact change and we are proud of their impact!
