2. Fletcher v. Peck: Contracts are sacred and can't be violated by States - pro business and Federal over State power and protects property rights of individuals.
3. McCulloch v. Maryland: Webster "The Power to tax is the power to destroy" states do not have the right to regulate or tax federal institutions & "Implied Powers" the BUS is constitutional based on the "Necessary & Proper" Clause.
4. Dartmouth College v. Woodward: (again argued by Webster) Again contracts are sacred even if they were colonial contracts granted by the king and can not be violated or altered by the state without consent of the signers of the contract. Weakens state power.
5. Cohens v. Virginia: Lottery issue - Supreme Court has power to try appealed state cases and can overturn state court decisions and rule state laws unconstitutional.
6. Gibbons v. Ogden - deals with ferry monopolies: Congress indeed has the power to regulate interstate commerce and expands that power from Article 1 of the constitution.
