About Ms. Herrera

Hello! I am super excited to be teaching English 9 and English 10 Honors at CCHS this year. It is my second year as a Centaur but my 9th year of teaching overall. I am born and raised in Chicago where I taught all levels of English over the course of eight years. I earned both my BA in English Education and my MEd in Literacy, Language and Culture from the University of Illinois at Chicago and am a certified Reading Specialist. Over the summers, I also work for a company called Quantum Learning Network, which is based out of Oceanside, California. Through my position at QLN, I have been able to facilitate summer camps for students and workshops for teachers around the country.
I love teaching English and working with students. In my free time, I enjoy biking, reading, lounging and watching Netflix, and spending time with my husband and crazy pup, Coconut. I am also enjoying exploring my new home state; being close to the ocean is pretty cool and this weather is phenomenal!
All work for English 9 and English 10 Honors can be found on the CANVAS Learning Management System--Each day I will post what we did in class under the "Announcements" tab. I will also post any assignments under the "Assignments" tab. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me :)
