About Mrs. Marino
Welcome to my class! I have been a proud Centaur staff member for over 20 years. This year I am teaching English 9. I enjoy working with students and welcome their energy and enthusiasm.
I'm looking forward to advising the Journalism Club and helping students create an informative and entertaining student news website. The club meets Thursdays at lunch and any student is welcome to join. I also advise the Garden Club, which meets in the student garden on Fridays during lunch as well as after school and sometimes on the weekends.
I am almost always available after school for tutoring. You don't even need to make an appointment -- just drop in!
As for my own education, I earned a bachelor's in English from UCSB, a teaching credential from San Francisco State, and a master's in technology-based education from Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Some interesting things about me: I have 11 siblings; I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco; I've lived in Guatemala and Japan; I have two daughters, both of whom attended CCUSD schools; my nephew, Casey Blake, played third base for the Dodgers (2008-2011).
My goal for this year is to help students reach their potential by providing opportunities for growth in a challenging and nurturing environment.
