Cheer Leaders Face Adversity in Florida and Triumph as a Team

Coach Farris would like to personally congratulate our 12 young ladies that represented our school and community this past weekend at the National High School Federation Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. There were a total of 600 high school teams from all over the country and ONLY 13 from the state of California. Our girls not only had excellent behavior and conduct on this trip but they also overcame incredible challenge and persevered with an outstanding performance!

Graduating HS Senior PTA Scholarships

Each year, California State PTA offers Graduating High School Senior Scholarships of $500, based on outstanding volunteer service in a school or community for High School Seniors who are members of a PTA/PTSA in good standing. Last year, more than 110 students in California were awarded this scholarship. Student applications, including two references, are due to the California State PTA on February 1st of each year. However, since February 1st falls on a Saturday in 2014, we have extended the due date to February 3, 2014. Applications must be received by that date for consideration. For Online Application Go to

CCHS Students Recognized for by National Merit Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes top performers on the Preliminary SAT each year. Approximately 1.5 million 11th grade students participate in the exam each year. The top 1% (about 16,000) are identified as NMSQT Semi-Finalists and invited to apply to become a finalist, making them eligible for scholarship opportunities. Culver City High School is proud to announce our own NMSQT Semi-Finalist, Logan Kim. Logan – we are proud of you!

The top 5% are also recognized as Commended Students. We congratulate Loise Cho, Christopher Clark, Wesley Dixon, Sarah Dolan, Allison Kelly, Nafisa Khan, Sara Murphy, and Asma Nawaz.

We are very pleased to learn that three Culver City High School students have been identified as Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. These students are will be referred to around 1,500 U.S. colleges and universities by the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Please join me in congratulating Paul Okuboyejo, Jessica Perez, Mahari Teclezghi.
