Hi Everyone,
Mr. Buchanan (who also teaches Integrated Algebra) has a youtube channel and will be doing live lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays during period 6 at 1:00 pm.  Please feel free to join in on his live lectures or watch his videos. If you can't make it to watch live, the videos will stay available for you to watch anytime on his youtube channel using the link below.

Also, here is an interactive jeopardy game to help study for our upcoming mastery check.  This week and next week will be focused on reviewing CC5 Quadratic Equations.

I will be hosting a Q&A on Friday through Zoom during period 2.  I will email you with the link.
Hope you're all doing well and staying safe.
Mr. Azeroual

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
Here is a review assignment that covers all of CC5 which will help you study for the Mastery Check.  I am not sure how and when we will take the Mastery Check, but it is important that you practice daily and are ready to take the Mastery Check whenever the time arrives.  Miss you guys.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
In this lesson, we look at some very advanced Quadratic Equation Word Problems.  The objective of this lesson is to learn the language used in word problems to represent the different points on a parabola.  For example:  the starting point always refers to the y-intercept, the ground always refers to the x-intercepts and the maximum point always refers to the vertex point.  Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
In this lesson we look at some real life applications of Quadratic Equations and try to find the maximum point (Vertex).  We start by completing a table and draw to parabola.  We then try to find the vertex point.  We could also use factoring to find the x-intercepts and then find the middle of the x-intercepts to get the axis of symmetry and then substitute the axis of symmetry to find the vertex.  Another alternative, is to use the axis of symmetry formula ( x = -b / 2a ) and then substitute the axis of symmetry to find the vertex.  Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
In this lesson we look at Quadratic Equations that are factorable and our objective is to find the x-intercepts.  By the end of this lesson you should be able to find x-intercepts in two different ways.  In the first way, we set y equal to zero, we than factor the quadratic equation and then set each of the factors equal to zero and solve for x.  In the second way, we set y equal to zero and then apply the quadratic formula to find the x-intercepts.  Both way work, however factoring is a lot quicker.  Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
In this lesson, our goal is to find the x-intercepts of Quadratic Equations that are not in Standard Form and are also Non-Factorable.  Our first steps are to move all the terms to one side, place the terms in standard form and set the equation equal to zero.  We now can apply the Quadratic Formula and find the x-intercepts.  Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual

Due:

Assignment

Hi Everyone,
In this lesson, we graph Quadratic Equations that don't have any x-intercepts.  Since every Quadratic Equation has a vertex,  we first find the axis of symmetry using the axis of symmetry formula ( x = -b / 2a ).  After we find the axis of symmetry, we substitute the value that we get for x into the original quadratic equation and find the vertex point.  Once we have the vertex point, we can graph the quadratic equation using the 1 squared equals 1, 2 squared equals 4, 3 squared equals 9, .... shortcut.  Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Azeroual
