Lastly, we began the attached PPT (we watched a video pertaining to the American institution of slavery 1st- click on the image on the left side of the title slide) and only got through the second slide. I also assigned the attached HW "The Meaning of the July Fourth for the Negro" by Frederick Douglass. Please read, annotate, and answer the questions on the back. This morning we looked at early maps of North America; students examined the maps, responded to the prompt, and discussed with their "color groups". Next, students worked independently on reading the attached two documents (one on the foundations of the American slavery system and the other on the economic system of mercantilism) and answered questions in their notebooks. We then discussed the answers and student then began working on the U.S. map. I have the map directions attached below (directions are duplicated on the attachment to save paper) but please get a copy of the map from me on Monday if you were absent today.
