Today we discussed the "Nation's Sick Economy". For the "Stock Market Activity" which is built in to the PPT, please utilize the attached "Stock Market Activity Blank" handout. You should be able to complete the initial purchase of stocks through #3 on the handout.  

Today we finished discussing "Pop Culture and Fads of the 1920s". Next, we started discussing the financial issues leading up to the Stock Market and Financial crash of 1929. We'll continue with this tomorrow. 

Today we finished up the Presidencies of Harding and Coolidge and then started, but did not finish, "Education and Popular Culture of the 1920s". 

Today we discussed the Harlem Renaissance. We'll continue with this tomorrow.

Today was the Unit III Exam. If you were absent today please be prepared to take the exam on Monday, Dec. 2nd. I also gave out the Fall Final Exam Study Guide which is attached below. Please have an awesome Thanksgiving Break! 

Today we reviewed for tomorrow's Unit III Exam by watching the attached videos. Students were also allowed to study on their own. I also crossed off some things from the Study Guide, so you may want to check with a friend if you were absent today.

Today we reviewed and discussed the information from last Friday's "WWI- What do you remember?" chart. Next, we discussed the U.S.' entry to WWI and the effects on the U.S. We'll continue with this tomorrow. 

Today we finished discussing the presidency of Wilson, and then worked individually or in groups to fill out the attached handout... what do you remember about WWI from last year? 

Today we discussed the 1912 Election and the Wilson Presidency. Please note, there are two videos about the 1920s re-boot of the KKK hyperlinked to the image of Stone Mountain and the image of the lynched African American man.

Today we finished American Imperialism. Please pay special attention to the Political Cartoons we've looked at in this PPT. Please read Document F, Section 1 and do the questions for section 1 tonight for HW and be prepared to discuss tomorrow. 

Today we continued with American Imperialism at the Turn of the Century. Please make sure you read, annotate, and answer questions for documents C, D, E. 

Today we started Unit III: Imperialism and Progressivism. We started the attached PPT on American Imperialism. I also assigned Documents A and B of the attached Unit III Document Packet.

Unit II Exam

Today we finished discussing the Populist Party as well as increased racism and changes in education. 

Today we finalized the information on the Political Machines. We then got through almost all of the attached PPT on the Populist Party. 

Tomorrow is the Socractic Seminar; please be sure you have completed steps 1-4 on the directions and be prepared to engage in interesting student-led discussion tomorrow!

Today classes were very short due to the assembly. We did a few slides of the attached PPT through slide # 5. Please make sure you're studying for the upcoming Unit II Exam on Tuesday. 

Today we completed the "Immigration and Urbanization" PPT, which included political cartoons and film clips. Next, we started, but did not finish discussing Political Machines of the Gilded Age.

Today we continued with the discussion of the first Robber Barons/Captains of Industry. This included notes, a primary source document (attached) and video. 

Today we started by discussing last night's HW (Docs C and D of the Unit II Doc Packet). Next, we discussed the "Expansion of Industry" in the U.S. No HW tonight! 

Today the counselors, Mrs. Lenke and Mr. Gyepes, came in to discuss suicide with our students today. Towards the end of class, we discussed the HW that was due today (Documents A and B). I also assigned Documents C and D for HW tonight, due tomorrow. 

Today we finished discussing Life on the Frontier. I also assigned Documents A and B for HW over the weekend. Please have both of them completed by Monday and be prepared to discuss. 

Today students wrote their timed DBQ response. Next, we continued learning about Life on the Frontier.

Today we finished discussing Reconstruction, which included the attached Primary Source Document by Henry Adams and a video about Reconstruction. Next, I assigned the attached directions and documents the upcoming DBQ. Please complete documents A-D by Monday.

Today we finished discussing the Civil War. I also had students remove some items from their Unit I Study Guide. Also, please note, I pushed back the Unit I Exam to next Monday, October 7th. 

Today we discussed last night's HW. Next, we finished discussing the "Divisive Politics of Slavery". Lastly, students worked on the attached document "Dred Scott vs. Sanford". This is due Monday. 

Today we discussed last night's HW (Frederick Douglass' speech) and students turned it in after a great discussion! Next, we continued with the attached PPT and got through "Compromise over Slavery" (p. 3) and "Fighting against slavery" (p. 6). We'll continue with this tomorrow. I also assigned the attached reading and questions on the Compromise of 1850. 

Today students took the Unit I Quiz. If you were absent today you can either make it up during Centaur Plus or when you return (during class). Next, we finished discussing Manifest Destiny (please note the questions asked on slide # 7 are based on the information provided on a handout during class. You'll have to see me to get the handout to answer the questions).  

Today we finished discussing the Jackson Presidency (from last Friday). Please note there are two videos (one linked from the picture of Van Buren and the other linked from the picture of the run on the bank) about the legacy of Jackson. 

Next, we started discussing "Manifest Destiny". We discussed the image on the title slide and got through slide #5 ("Remember the Alamo"). There is also a video linked to the picture of the Alamo on that slide. We'll continue with this tomorrow after your Quiz. Please remember to study! 

Today we started off with discussing last night's HW. Good discussion, everyone! Next, we finished up the PPT on Jefferson and Monroe from yesterday. 

Today we finished up the Presidencies of Washington and Adams. 

Today we discussed the U.S. Bill of Rights. I have attached a document in which students are to put Amendments 1-10 in their own words. I also assigned the attached "Electoral College" reading and questions, however I do not have an electronic copy of this so if you were absent today please make sure you ask me for a copy on Monday. Both of the documents are due on Monday. Also, please study for the U.S. Map quiz which will also be on Monday and bring your U.S. map to be turned in and graded. Enjoy your weekend! 

Today we discussed the problems with the Articles of Confederation and how this led to the founding of a new government under the U.S. Constitution. I also went over the syllabus. Please sign and return this ASAP. 

Today on the 18th Memorial of 9/11 I showed my personal pictures from visiting Ground Zero in 2015 and answered any questions students had about this day.

Today I was absent and students went over the "Road to Independence, Part I" with the sub as well as the attached "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine excerpt and questions. 

Today I started going over the "Road to Independence, part I" and the sub continued with this tomorrow. 

Today I was absent due to my Mom's illness. The substitute allowed students to work on their U.S. maps and then discussed the Road to Revolution with them. 

Today we discussed the answers to last Friday's reading assignments on the American institution of slavery as well as the British system of mercantilism. Next, we took notes on early colonial times through the French and Indian War. Lastly, I assigned the U.S. map which should be complete by Thursday. I've attached the directions for the map but please get a copy of the map from me. 

This morning we looked at early maps of North America; students examined the maps, responded to the prompt, and discussed with their "color groups". Next, students worked independently on reading the attached two documents (one on the foundations of the American slavery system and the other on the economic system of mercantilism) and answered questions in their notebooks. We then discussed the answers and student then began working on the U.S. map. I have the map directions attached below (directions are duplicated on the attachment to save paper) but please get a copy of the map from me on Monday if you were absent today. 

Today we got to know each other a bit by filling out the attached form. If you were absent, please print this out, fill it out thoroughly, and turn in to me when you return to school. I also shared a bit about myself, went over what we'll be learning this year, as well as our classroom layout.
