This is not required, but fascinating (at least to me).

Watch on Youtube "Victorian Slum House".  It shows people from today living like the impoverished did in the East End (slums) of London.  Each episode is a different decade.  I couldn't access the first episode 1860s, but I've put a link to the 1870s below.  I've also included an article about the Victorian slums from the magazine History Today.
