Happy Friday

Today in class we did a quick write of all the things we remember about derivatives.  I did it along with you so I have uploaded my list.  Remember it doesn't have everything in great detail but it is a good outline to show what concept you need to have.

Also posted here is the notes for derivatives of e^x and ln(x) along with the practice and key.

Due:

Assignment

1.)  Posted here are the notes and active practice for chain rule.  Try to get as much questions answered tomorrow and try the active problems because after break we are moving on to our next derivative rule.  For the problems in the textbook try to check you work the the full solutions posted here and use the password given in class to open it.

2.)  Here are some videos to help

Due:

Due:

Assignment

Tomorrow is your CC2 Quick Check.  It shouldn't take the whole period as we still have some derivative shortcuts to go over.  Don't forget to turn in your retest defense packet!

Topics on the CC 2 Quick Check
CC2
1) Limit form of the derivative
2) Power Rule
3) Differentiability
CC1
1) Horizontal Asymptotes
2) Vertical Asymptotes
3) Continuity

Here are some videos that might help with concepts.  Otherwise type those topics into youtube and find some good problems that people solve.  (or do the homework I have given you?  =P )

Due:

Assignment

So today we started to look at notation questions that deal with limit definition of the derivative.  We have also looked at finding a shortcut for finding derivatives, starting with the power rule.  Make sure you have these notes copied down!

If you need a refresher on the concept of a derivative you have the notes and you can go here for a good summary!

Also posted here is the homework for the power rule!

Due:

Assignment

So we just learned some basic rules/shortcuts for derivatives.  Before we learn more shortcuts we are doing to study what differentiable means and its connection to continuity.  Please copy these notes by Monday.  The last couple of pages are the filled in version of the graphs and conclusions from earlier pages of the notes.

Due:

Assignment

Your Concept Category 1 Mastery Check is this coming Tuesday the 9th of October.  Start to prepare!

Posted here is some additional problems to help you get ready!

Due:

UPDATE 9/5/18

I also posted the answer for the worksheet you got today in class (9/5/18) on piecewise functions and limits.

***************************************************************************************************************

Here are the next set of notes that get us into the first topic of Calculus... Limits!!

Notes are broken into two parts,
Wednesday:  Limits Part 1
Thursday: Limits Part 2
Friday:  Practice solving limits BRING YOUT TEXTBOOK.

Here are some websites that you can use to help you review some basics of what you need for Calc.
A good site to learn how to do a problem but not really learn they why it works.  Its still a good site to walk through typical calculus problems.

This is the general page and the two video sections to look into are

"Foundations of Calculus"
"Limits and Continuity"

After you click on the group of videos look at the title for the topic you need help in.
FYI the limits and continuity is where we are going in our notes near of the end of the week.

3.  https://www.youtube.com/user/Mathbyfives an interesting site it has solid material but in a slightly different but entertaining way.

**********************************************************************************************
So your first active practice is on limits.

We are in chapter 2
Read Chapter 2.2 from page 83-91

Problems remember range from
No Evidence  ==>  Some Evidence  ==>  Good Evidence

Page 92-94 #1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15-18, 20, 21, 47, 54, 55

Tentatively your first quick check will be on Tuesday of next week.

Due:

Assignment

Here are the first set of notes that will cover selected topics of the summer work.  Please copy them down.  Where you see yellow post its is where you will be doing some work on your own in class so make sure you leave some space for that.
