Today I discussed which items you could take off of your study guide. Please talk to a friend about this over the weekend or me on Monday. We also discussed the Rise of Communism and Important inventions from the Industrial Revolution. You only need to study the things on your study guide, which are high-lighted in green on the PPT. Lastly, on your test Tuesday, you will answer a Short Answer Question. The two options are: Why did England Industrialize First? and the other option I'm not being so specific with, but will pertain to the graphs that we did in class a few days ago.

Today I passed out the Unit V Study Guide for the test which will be next Tuesday, November 22nd. Next, students finished their child labor photo analysis that we started last Thursday. After this, we completed a three charts related to industrialization. For all classes except Period 1, the charts should have been finished in class and tonight's HW is to answer the questions about the information provided by the charts/graphs (see "Industrialization Graphs for Students"). For most classes, we also "reenacted" the attached "child labor testimony" given to Parliament by Elizabeth Bentley.

We then looked at some of Jacob Riis' pictures from the Industrial Revolution times about "How the Other Half Lived". Lastly we stared working on analyzing photographs from this time of child labor. We opened class by analyzing the political cartoon on slide 8 by answering the questions on slide 7. After discussing students' answers, we took notes on slides 9 and 10. We watched about 1/2 of a John Green "Crash Course" video (open and run PPT, click on picture of the Bastille on slide #10 --> hyperlink to a video). Lastly, we reviewed information by completing the attached CLOZE worksheet. HW tonight is to read the "Declaration of Rights of Man" and answer the questions on the bottom or a separate (stapled) sheet of paper.

Today we completed notes on the influence of the Enlightenment Philosophers on the American government (civil and judicial rights and structure). I added information to the chart on the last slide by hand (on the white board) so if you were absent today, please make sure to get the notes (attached below) and get the extra added information from a classmate or peer whom I teach. This extra information is imperative for success on Monday's in-class timed paragraph.
Also attached are the documents you will need to read and the questions you'll need to complete to prepare for Monday's in-class paragraph. Please make sure you have answered all questions for all documents (Locke, Voltaire, Montesquieu) for HW tonight. We'll discuss these questions and how to properly write a DBQ tomorrow in class, as well as review for Monday's Unit II exam.
* the "Enlightenment Timed Paragraph (revised)" may help some students prepare better, however, the attached "WH Paragraph Graphic Organizer" is what can be used to write the in-class paragraph and this will also be collected for points.
