Algebra 2 Honors (Period 3) Assignments

Here are the goal problems we did in class for you to test yourself with along with answers.  

Please remember that the thursday and friday you are taking your final early so that you have a chance to retest on parts you didn't do so well in.

 

To Prepare for the final get all your old tests and quick checks (you did keep them nice and organized right?  =D  )  and look at the past posted homework to find all the materials you need to review with.  I will try to organize and repost stuff here but don't rely on it too much, you need to put in the time and work.

Hi guys,  

You have the worksheet to graph transformations try to finish that and as requested I am posting the totem pole we were doing in class for you to work on as well.  Your next quick check is on Tuesday so prepare for it.  

Prepare for tomorrows quick check, they will cover parent functions, and domain and range functions.  

 

Thanksgiving homework is given early in class, here are the answers if you want to finish it before break.  

Please finish the two worksheets given in class, I have also posted it here for those of you who were absent

Make sure to add those graphs you corrected in class today into your notes and also make sure you know how to use your calculator to find the e^x and ln(x) graphs.

 

The worksheets are for homework and should be completed tonight.  If there are questions please bring them to class tomorrow.  If you have trouble graphing the last couple of problems you have three different techniques

Outline for the next few days.

1)  Tomorrow and Wednesday finish notes and practice worksheets in class and at home

2)  Wednesday start new notes on domain and range.

Here is a file that some students wanted to work on basic Pre Calc skills for Calculus.  So if you need to review Algebra and some basic geometry but don't know where to start, well now you do.

For homework you are to finish the worksheet that we started in class.  If you don't know how to graph a particular function try to youtube the following words.  Do not worry if you have a hard time learning how to use your calculator, just make sure you have questions on Monday to ask.

 

If you feel like you want to learn a little on your own thats fine, here a few sites that might help.

Your Unit Test is on Thursday so you need to come up with a plan on what, where, and when you are going to study.  In class you used the learning target sheet to what concept categories you need to go over.  Please use your old quick checks and practice problems that you have and that have been old posts to gather what you need to review.  As I told you in class let me know what topics you need to review.

 

If you are having trouble thinking about what to study here is some guidelines

What we are going to in class in addition to the practice.  Some of you need to use the time in class more wisely working on problems and asking clarifying questions. 

 

Monday:  Go over quick check for Concept Category 3

 

Tuesday:  We will go over factoring and graphing sinusoidal word problems.

 

For factoring if you need more examples of how to factor you can look onto youtube.com.  Some of ones I thought were good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your next quick check on the last unit 1 learning target, "Trigonometric Identity  (Pythagorean) and solve basic trigonometric equations and proofs."  Will be this Wednesday.

I am attaching the solutions to the words problems you were working on in class today as well as a tangent review for people who need it.

 

The Quick Check breakdown

Recall:  Identify Key Features of Graph or Equation

Routine:  Graphing a given trig function

Non-Routine:  Writing an equation from a word problem.

 

Ok well it was pretty tough in class today so please review your notes and try to make some connections of things you need for the sine or cosine equation, which are "hidden" in the word problem.  Try those four problems you got in class again.

 

Look at Page 833 in your textbook Real world example.  

 

Attached here is how to write a sinusoidal function from a  word problem explained one more time.  Please read through it to help you understand the process.

Just to remind you that you will have a graded quick check on Concept Category 1 or Concept Category 2.  You only choose one to do.  Please look at your Learning Target Log to see what learning targets were covered in there.  If your grade in CC1 was good then try CC2.  (Everybody next week will be assessed on CC2)

 

The best way to review is to look at past posted assignments on the homework website, review what we did in class, and the goal problems that you tried and your annotated solutions to that problem.  

Keep practicing your graphing of trigonometric functions.  Make sure you really try to get all the different levels done.

Hi Everybody just a friendly reminder,

 

1.  It would be in your best interest to practice the problems in the book that were assigned on the sheet I gave at the beginning of the year to keep your recall quick.

2.  Those of you who did well on the last quick check you should be working on your concept map, connecting the various ideas that we went through in class as well as adding example problems.  

3.  For those of you who struggled on tuesday working through the different levels of problems, I have posted the key to it for you to study.  Remember to focus on the why did I take the steps I did, and not the just the calculations. (the calculations and getting the correct answer is still important ;P)

4.  Lastly look at old homework and try to find the non-routine problems and see if there are alternate ways of solving them.

You need to create a graph for the cosine function like we did for the sine function and label the period, midline, and amplitude on the graph.  Also you need to start to work on your concept map making connections with topics/ideas from your notes.  If you can't connect some ideas it might mean that you still need a little work and practice before you can really apply it in problems.

 

Your next quick check will be this wednesday and will cover LT 1A and 1B
