Assignment

I received this email and thought that it might be of interest to some of you.  The competition is open to all high school students.  Test questions will be based on the information that can be downloaded from the program website.

If you are interested, make sure that you register online no later than 1/30/2015.

My name is Sanan Venkatesh and I am the Membership Activities Director of UCLA InterAxon Neuroscience Outreach, and we are coordinating the 2015 annual Los Angeles/Irvine Brain Bee, held at University of California, Irvine (UCI) this year on February 7th

I am writing to request if you could spread the word about the Brain Bee to the intelligent, competitive students at Culver City High School! I have attached a flyer that can be distributed/posted at school for your convenience.

Like a Spelling Bee, the Brain Bee allows high school students (grades 9-12) to compete with each other in neuroscience after studying from an online textbook. Students can network with college faculty and students by participating, and the winner of the LA Brain Bee moves on to the National Brain Bee!

All participants must register online at http://losangelesbrainbee.com/ by January 30th, 2015 in order to be considered. Registration will be opening soon, so keep an eye out on our website!

Thank you so much for your time, and I hope to see Culver City High School's ambitious student population at the competition!

Sincerely,

Sanan Venkatesh

Membership Activities Director, UCLA InterAxon

Both standard deviation and standard error of the mean are measures of variability, BUT, the SD is a measure of the fluctuation of a set of data about the sample mean,  The SE is an estimate of the fluctuation of a sample mean about the  "true" mean of the entire population.  The error bars are an attempt to give a range of plausible values for the population mean at that point of time, given that the sample means will change from sample to sample.
