As promised, here is the GIANT review document. I would suggest reading it on the computer and/or only printing the parts you need.

1. Students for the a.m. test should arrive at the library (or alternate reporting location in the case of a couple of tests) between 7:15 and 7:20 a.m. processing into the test room will begin promptly by 7:30 a.m. Late comers may possibly not be accommodated.
Students taking the p.m. test should arrive between 11:15 - 11:30 a.m. Test room admittance will be made as soon as feasibly possible following the conclusion of the morning test.


2. There is no reason students need to bring to the library backpacks, bookbags, etc. Leave them at home, in their lockers. Several of the tests will be pushing our room capacity leaving little "overflow" space for personal possessions.

Students bring only their snack (in clear plastic bag), pens, pencils, simple calculator! , eraser, water/beverage that they can only have for break (and not on the table top!) Again, please do not bring backpacks, bookbags, other container bags to the library with you!

3 Cell phones and other electronics-- Ask students, if possible, not have them present.

Collecting and identifying them slows down the admittance process and inevitably one or two students each test don't turn off their phone and there is sound interruption and the students start laughing. If you are opening your room early for students to drop backpacks, bookbags, purses, etc., perhaps you could also have a box available to collect electronics. (Students whose tests require calculators should bring the calculator.)

4. Students will be dismissed for the day at the end of the test (for a.m. students) which will be between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

5. Your help and cooperation will get us started quicker and get you finished with your test sooner-than-later.

OPPORTUNITY FOR LEARNING - AND EXTRA CREDIT!

There is a FREE Biology course offered online; it begins on March 5. It is taught by faculty from Harvard and MIT and it should cover topics that will help you on the AP exam. The course will involve lectures, videos, tests, etc. My students who earn a certificate from the course (at least 60% of the points) will be awarded extra credit in AP Biology by me. Even if you do not earn a certificate, or do not have the time to watch all the videos or take all the tests, this course should help you prepare for the May 13 exam.

Eric Lander, one of the leaders of the Human Genome Project, is hosting an introductory biology course on edX, the not-for-profit online learning initiative founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). 7.00x – The Secret of Life will let you explore the mysteries of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology and genomics, and rational medicine.

Although this course has been designed exclusively for edX, the course content reflects the topics Lander has taught in the MIT introductory biology courses for many years. Students will complete this course in 12 weeks. At the center of each week is a series of lecture sequences that are supported by interactive video tutorials and interspersed exercises or problems. Additionally, students will work on a homework assignment or exam each week. The course will conclude with a comprehensive final exam.

The course is not just for the traditional students, but also educators and scientists who work in the biomedical/health care professions who need a refresher on the most cutting edge biology and genetics. The only prerequisite is a desire to learn.

The Center for Applied Molecular Medicine (CAMM) and the Westside Cancer Center (WCC) offer a unique program to promote scientific achievement for upper class high school students interested in clinical or research oncology. We believe that passion, coupled to outstanding aptitude, are the hallmarks for success. This program attempts to further scientific education by incorporating hands-on experimentation in a collaborative environment.
