After more research, you will complete a final outline that will serve as your blueprint for your paper.

Email me your research paper THESIS STATEMENT. Choose a topic from the list and formulate a question about it. Start researching to find the answer to your question. Look in books, articles. encyclopedia entries, and websites. Once you have an answer, or a partial answer to your question, email it to me. The answer to your question is your thesis statement. Send it to me by the end of spring break, 4/10/2011. 10 points participation

Write a paragraph in which you revere or condemn Odysseus. Look at your hero chart and decide what his most prominent characteristic is and give an example of it. Your paragraph should have a topic sentence, supporting details, including a quote from the epic poem, and a concluding sentence.

Revise and type your extended simile (or metaphor).

Extended Simile (or metaphor) instructions:
Choose a feature (hair, teeth, voice, laugh, sense of humor, etc) of someone you know and compare it to something to create a strong mental image.
Example from Amy Tan's "Two Kinds"
"Her fingers like like... an old peach I once found in the back of the refrgerator; the skin just slid off the meat when I picked it up."
Start with the idea: His/Her (feature) is like a (object or thing). Then describe the object or thing in detail. By describing the thing, you will give your reader a mental image of your subject.

Write about one of the two:
1) A time when you acted out in anger and it led to disaster and/or compassion.
2) A time you were unable to live up to someone's high expectations of you.

Today, a nonlethal version of Zaroff's "game" takes place in arcades and on mock battelfields in many countries around the world. In these games, participants "shoot" each other with lasers and paintballs. Players call these games "harmless fun." Do you agree? What is your opinion of war games? (from page 59 in the text book under Inquiry & Research)

Bring your binder and syllabus signature sheet as well as your annotated summer reading book. You will be writing about it Friday in class.

Bring your annotated summer reading novel on Wednesday and Friday.

Complete the outline for your Animal Farm essay. Be sure to include textual evidence with correct pages numbers. You will use this outline during a timed essay in January.
