Mr. John Roth
I grew up and was educated in the South Bay of Los Angeles. My secondary education was completed at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance I am a second generation Californian and my ancestors have lived in the United States since the American Revolution(they were however on the British side in that conflict). I am a graduate of California State University, Long Beach(1982, B.A.) and my major was Liberal Studies with a Concentration in Anthropology. Both of my teaching credentials were earned at that university.
There are several hobbies that I at times use distract myself from work. First, I love to go out camping and have done so all over the western side of the U.S. Collecting antique military and Native American artifacts is also one of my favorite hobbies. Although I don't play an instrument, I am very musical. My favorite instrument is the highland bagpipe
Next, I am very fond of fresh and saltwater fishing. I am a landscape photographer who has been fortunate enough to have worked throughout the American Southwest, Alaska and the Mojave Desert.
At CCHS, I hold the position as a Special Day Class Teacher. I have worked at this District for over 18 years( I have been teaching for over 30 years). Including my work as an aide, I have been working in the states schools for 40 years. The courses that I teach at CCHS are:
U.S. Government and Economics R1
Global Issues R1
World History R1
U.S. History R1
Health R1
During the school year, I am one of the Special Education Advisors for the Best Buddies club here at CCHS.
