California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

What is CSF?

The California Scholarship Federation (known as CSF) is a state-wide academic organization whose purpose is to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in high school.

 

What do I need to join CSF?

  • CSF Membershipis based on qualifying grades that are earned each semester.
  • In order to become a member, the student must submit an application each semester the student is eligible.  Each semester qualifying students will receive an invitation to an online application.
  • There are no membership fees.
  • There are no additional service hours required besides the hours required by CCUSD as a graduation requirement.

 

A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements.  To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn a minimum of 10 CSF points from a pre-approved course list that is updated and approved by CSF each year.

"A" = 3 points, "B" = 1 point, AP and/or Honor classes get one extra point that can only be used twice per semester/application.   For example: AP US History with an A grade will earn 4 points instead of 3.  “C” grades do not earn points and a “D” or “F” grade disqualifies the student for that semester.

The majority of the required membership points must come from University accepted coursework. 

 

 Associate Membership will be granted to ninth graders and first semester tenth graders (looking at freshman grades) whose grades meet the CSF requirements.  However, this membership cannot count toward life (seal bearer) membership.

 

A Seal bearer is a CSF member who has earned membership during four of the last six semesters of high school, one must be earned by senior grades. 

 

Students who qualify are awarded the following at graduation:

 

CSF Honors

Requirement:

  • 4 or 5 Semesters CSF Member
  • Must include at least one semester during your senior year

  • CSF Lamp Pin
  • Gold CSF Tassel
  • Gold Cords

 

CSF Highest Honors

Requirement:        

  • 6 Semesters CSF Member
  • You must be a CSF Member ALL 6 semesters

 

What you will receive:

  • Gold Stole
  • Gold Seal on Diploma
  • CSF Lamp Pin
  • Gold CSF Tassel
  • Gold Cords
