Ms. Velasquez M.Ed.

Ms. Velasquez (her students know her as Ms. "V") earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Chicano/a Studies along with her Master of Arts in special education from Sonoma State University and California State University-Dominguez Hills.

Ms. Velasquez has been a special education teacher since 1998 and holds a dual teaching credential in both mild/moderate and moderate/severe academic instruction.

Ms. Velasquez is very happy to be working here at CCHS because she grew up in this city and continues to be a resident of Culver City.

Ms. Velasquez has three children who are also a part of the CCUSD family.  She loves spending her free time outdoors with her husband and kids. She considers her career in education one of her biggest successes. She has chosen to use her own educational and life experiences to help motivate her students to reach their potential in spite of their learning challenges. Ms. V. includes daily mindfulness in her curriculum and the students have really responded to the calm quiet moments each day.  Ms. Velasquez  is extremely excited to be teaching English 9,10,11,12 this year as well as an Intercultural Literature Class.  "This is going to be another fantastic school year full of adventures in literature and in the classroom."

"Culver City School District is truly a family of schools and I am so grateful to be a part of this family."
