All About Me

WELCOME Centaur students and families. It is an honor and a privilege to be amongst the incredible teachers and administrators here at Culver City High School. Although I am new to the CCHS family, I am not new to education.

I have been in the field of Special Education for over 25 years now, starting off my career in a Long Beach middle school, as a classroom aide, and upon receiving a degree in Psychology from CSULB/CSUDH, I entered into the classroom as a full-time teacher and haven't looked back.

I've been fortunate to have had an incredible career in special education, working in a variety of schools and school districts, with some amazing teachers, administrators, but most importantly students and their families.

I am a family man myself: My wife and I have two sons - a sophomore in college and a senior in high school; and two daughters - a 1st grader and a preschooler. I not only approach teaching as a scholar and a professional, but also through the lens of a parent - "What experiences do I want my children to have when they are at school?" is a question that frames everything that I think, say and do!

I use the lessons that I've learned from my many life experiences, whether it be the lessons I learned from my own educator parents, the lessons I learned serving in our country's Marine Corps (ooh rah), or the lessons that life just naturally has brought to create a culture of learning that invites growth, wonderment, self-expression, and safety to make, and learn from, our mistakes.

My goal, while here at CCHS, is to foster a love of learning, a mentality of growth, and a desire to build a community that works interdependently to graduate responsible, critically thinking, community-oriented, scholars and graduates.
