Chem-Is-Try!

Instructor Bio:
I was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the U.S. with my parents and younger brother when I was four years old. I grew up in the Chicago area and attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where I received a B.S. in the Teaching of Chemistry and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. I completed a second M.A. in Religion from Urbana Theological Seminary. While in Illinois, I taught H.S. Chemistry, Math, and University ESL.

Since moving to Los Angeles in June 2008, I have taught ESL and teacher education courses at UCLA Extension. I joined CCHS in August 2009 and have taught all levels of chemistry (regular, honors, AP) and AVID elective classes during the school year and Algebras 1, 2 and Geometry during summer school. In addition to my teaching duties, I serve as the Peer Tutoring Coordinator, Sunrise Club Sponsor, and Life Skills Club Sponsor.

I look forward to an engaging year with students. I am available by appointment for anyone who needs help or has questions. Students are expected to review daily lessons and attempt any assigned problems and return to school with them the next day. I expect a substantial, sustained effort throughout the school year because Chem-Is-Try!!!
