Earth Science - Fall Assignments

Here is your study guide for the Earth Science Fall final.  The copy you received in class is double-sided.  You may bring ONE side of a single-sided copy to the final with you, WITH NOTES you have hand-written on both sides.  No exceptions.  If you do this and you turn in your used study guide, you will earn TWO POINTS extra credit on your final exam.

 

Bring something to read or quietly do on your own after you turn in the exam and receive TWO MORE EXTRA CREDIT POINTS on your final exam.

Here are the Google Slides presentations for the "Follow-Along" worksheets in your Chapter 23 - The Solar System worksheet packet.  The entire packet is due one week from Friday (tomorrow as of this posting).

Remember this will be considered as part of your chapter test, so be thoughtful, take care with your answers and finish all questions!

Here is the video we are using rather than written notes for Solar and Lunar Eclipses.

 

 

Remember - Solar eclipses happen when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun, causing the Sun to look like it's disappeared behind the Moon.  The Moon is in the new moon lunar phase.  

 

Lunar eclipses happen when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon, causing a shadow to fall across the Moon.  The Moon is in the full moon lunar phase.

Draw/Label/Color "Lunar Phases, from the assignment file below.  Make sure to have a TITLE, and to label the numbered phases of the Moon with their proper title, i.e. "Full Moon," "Waning Gibbous."

Model/Lab - The Doppler Shift.  Follow the directions on the instructions sheet.

 

You will need to know all four types of galaxies; how to draw a simple example of each kind; a description of their shape, size, contents, relative age and percentage of galaxies of this kind in the universe.  Your quiz will be a table to fill out with this data.  There are clues for each type of galaxy on the table already.
