Assignment: Research a contemporary or historical issue in which conflict or disagreement existed between state and federal law.

Examples: Abortion, voting, guns, marriage, education, marijuana, segregation, child labor, union protections.

Your research should include the following:

  • What federal and/or The Constitution state about your issue.
  • What state law or laws conflict with federal law.
  • Examples of how the state and federal law conflict or might conflict.
  • Relevant court cases regarding the issue.
  • How the issue was resolved or how is the issue being resolved today.
