Getting to Know Mrs. Burton

I am beyond blessed to serve as CCHS’ Assistant Principal, Curriculum & Guidance.

Before moving to Los Angeles, I would not have imagined in a million years I would be in this wonderful city. I am extremely happy to be here!

I am a proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Being reared in a household of educators, I was inspired and determined to follow in the footsteps of my parents. I have been an educator for the past 17 years. After graduating from Tennessee State University in Nashville where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, I accepted a teaching position at Sharpstown High School in Houston, Texas. I also worked at Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. While in Houston, I earned a Master of Public Administration and an education administrative license at Texas Southern University. After receiving my masters, I moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where I began an administrative career at North Central High School serving as the Crisis Administrator/ Student Programs Advisor for nine years. For the past two years, I worked as an Assistant Principal at Broad Ripple High School. I am married to the man of my dreams James Burton Sr. and have three beautiful children: Jillian, James Jr. and Justine.

Look forward to meeting everyone! Go Centaurs!!!!
