Welcome to Day 3 of distance learning.
 
Okay… time for a time out. We need to regroup. We are almost at Spring Break and most of this week we have been working like this situation is normal. It is not, and we need to take a moment to acknowledge that. I truly hope that you are each safe, healthy and finding reasons to smile, even in this trying situation. Now is the time for us to think collectively about others - even when that is hard. That said, today's assignments are a little bit different from the past two.

Yesterday you looked at political cartoons about the minimum wage to gain a sense of what the argument for and against a minimum wage might be. Today you will see if YOU could make it in LA on the minimum wage. (BTW the minimum wage in LA right now is $14.25/hour.)

On Friday we discussed why some people get paid so much and others so little. We were thinking about labor, wages, and compensation. Today we will start thinking about the minimum wage. Hourly employees, people in the gig economy, and those who work on commission are dramatically impacted by the Coronavirus. 
 
You have 4 assignments for Tuesday's distance learning. The assignments are embedded throughout the google slide show. They are due by 11:58 pm on Thursday, March 19. (If you have an IEP, please only complete assignments 3 and 4.)

First off, I hope you are all safe, healthy and doing well. We are living in an unprecedented time right now and empathy and kindness are essential for all of us! Please check back here at the homework website every day for your assignment. You should expect about an hour's worth of assignments Tuesday, March 16 through Friday, March 20.
