¡Hola y bienvenidos! My name is Philip Hernandez and I have been teaching Spanish since 2007. I have taught in Santa Barbara, South L.A., Koreatown and overjoyed to now call Culver City High School home! As a child growing up in a mixed ethnicity household, I only heard English but desperately wanted to understand what my aunts and grandparents from El Salvador were saying that I couldn't understand. As a Middle Schooler I began studying Spanish, fell in love with the Language and never stopped. Since those days I have found that not only Spanish, but language learning in general is a deep passion of mine.

Currently I am fluent in English (my native tongue), Spanish and Portuguese. I am also conversational in Japanese and French and studying everyday! As someone that is passionate about language learning, I know firsthand the difficulties that can come with starting a new language, but also know both the diligence, hard work and rewards associated with growth. I look forward to a great year together and am always available to help or listen to language learning or life learning queries!

All work for Spanish 1 and Spanish 3 is posted on the Canvas learning management system.
