Here is the 2nd page where you can find resources to help you prepare to review for the test.

  1. "AP Calc AB in One Page" - should have all the formulas we covered in class.
  2. "Calc Terms AB BC Review When you see this do this" - This is good practice to help you better understand the directions of an AP problem and what to do.

Welcome Back from spring break!  Here is the filled out notes and answer for the Mean Value Theorem (MVT) for derivatives and integrals.

We will be done with all the topics by Thursday and will do FRQ review next.

Due:

Assignment

Here are the notes homework and key for Volumes by revolving areas.

Also given in class was the second practice AP test that you can use to help you prepare.  It is in hardcopy form and will not be posted online.  So make sure you get one!

We will have a practice AP test April 22nd which is a weekend so make sure if you want to go to leave that day/morning free!

Due:

Assignment

Here are the notes homework and key to volume integration cross section.

Also if you want to hear about cross section again here are some youtube videos that I found helpful

Due:

Assignment

Here are the full notes, homework, and key for the two subject we did in the second half of this week:

1.)  Slopefeilds
2.)  Separable Differential Equations.

Next week there will be a survey for a saturday mock AP test as well as a long post with AP materials that you can use to review with.

Due:

Assignment

Here are the last two days of notes which are summarized below.  All packets include practice problems and solution keys.

Integral as an accumulator:  The notes show how the integral can be used to sum up the change in a function.  Note the units to help you understand what the integral means.

Using the integral to find the area between two curves:  Changing what we put into the integral to find the area in between two curves

Due:

Assignment

Next week I will give you a Calendar and Summary of the CC's for this class.  The goal is to get most of the AB topics done before spring break.  Hold on!

Due:

Assignment

Here is the rest of the notes on the introduction to integration along with the indefinite integral active practice set.

Next Monday is your assessment will include the following topics.

CC: Curve Sketching (3rd round)

CC: Approximation Techniques(LRAM, RRAM, MRAM, Trapezoidal Method) for the integrals, and the Properties of Integrals (6 properties given in notes) and how to solve integrals with notation only.

Due:

Assignment

Thursday will be the next curve sketching assessment.  You will have 20 minutes to get it done as we will be moving into on in our notes.

Posted here are the notes we did Friday and Tuesday as well as the next set of homework problems.  Please try to get the homework done sometime around the weekend.

Due:

Assignment

Here are the summation "sigma" and how to estimate area using rectangles and trapezoid notes.

Also posted here are the answers to the homework (the riemann sum and the trapezoidal problem) sheet you got in class.

Due:

Assignment

Remember your assessment for Curve Sketching, and Optimization/Related Rates is this Friday.  You will get 2 grades, one for Curve Sketching and a grade for optimization/related rates.

Okay so here is all the stuff for summation.
1.)  Notes we took in class
2.)  In class work on simplifying sigma expressions with answers.  These problems will not be tested on but serve as introduction to sigma type problems which appears frequently in college level math.  If you don't get to them, thats okay make sure you understand curve sketching and derivative based word problems.
3.)  I also posted here flash cards that cover all of Calc AB so if you need a study aid this would be a good place to start.

Here is a youtube video about sigma notation

Due:

Assignment

Here are the complete notes and homework for related rates.  This week is the last time in class to work on curve sketching, optimization, and related rates.  Next week we will start the second half of Calculus.

Your assessment for Curve Sketching Optimization and Related rates will be on thursday or friday of next week.

Due:

Assignment

Thursday and Friday you were given packets that gave you  sample of what the AP test will be like and similarly what to expect on your assessment next week.

Those packets will not be put online for security reasons so please make sure you get one in class.

Due:

Assignment

Here is the notes homework and key for optimization.  Please make sure you take the time to try some problems as we are going to move past this topic in 3-4 days from now.  Please also bring your calculator to class.

Due:

Assignment

Today we took our quick check on curve sketching with derivatives.  Students graded their own papers and wrote down what they need to do to their study plan

Posted here is the Curve Sketching, Rates of Change, and Derivative Review Worksheet and also the curve sketching true/false questions.

Bring your calculator next week!

Due:

Assignment

We finished up our notes for Curve Sketching and now is the time to plan and execute our practice.

1.  Is a copy of the planning sheet you filled out detailing your plan to study this material over the next six days.

2.  In addition to the previous two homework sets (One six problem worksheet, and the other was textbook problems from chapter 4.1 - see previous homework assignments)  We have two new sets:  One that covers analyzing functions in graphical form using derivative rules to analyzing increasing and decreasing, negative and positive, and min and max.  The second set is mostly from the textbook, covers the same concepts but in a data table format or equation format. Students need experience both.  Solutions to all problems and textbook problems are also found here.

3.  Also attached is the last page of notes for this topic.

Please check your answers to make sure you are learning the concepts correctly and work hard!

Due:

Assignment

Here are the additional problems to try that go along with what the first homework assignment had.  (we are in chapter 4.1) So please try problems from each section.    I have also posted the full example we did in class.

Due:

Assignment

Here is the first set of problems from the Curve Sketching Unit.  It involves finding Derivatives to find Critical Points and Min and Max.  Also posted are the notes we have thus far.

In light of last semesters results I wanted everyone to take stock how you prepare for the class.  The following handout has a practice cycle that will hopefully help you vary up your type of studying and help you understand the concepts and how they connect and not just the algebraic steps.  Use this packet to help you approach review one to two semester one topics as they will help you approach semester 2 easier.

Parents can use the following packet and ask their child where they are on the learning cycle and to show them evidence of their learning.
